Our Story

Murphy’s Auto Repair was founded in 2025 by two lifelong friends from Rome, GA — Rob Mixon and Sam Porterfield. The pair grew up together from age eight, sharing a love of hands‑on work and a commitment to serving others that would shape their careers and, ultimately, their business.

Rob served eight years in the U.S. Army as airborne infantry, bringing discipline, leadership, and a mission‑first mindset to every job. Sam served five years in the U.S. Navy as a submariner machinist mate and continues to serve in the Navy Reserves as a machinist mate working on fast attack boats. His technical expertise and attention to precision are central to the shop’s approach.

Combining military professionalism with hometown values, Rob and Sam built Murphy’s Auto Repair on a foundation of honesty, reliability, and skilled workmanship. Their complementary backgrounds — Rob’s leadership and logistics experience and Sam’s mechanical mastery and technical training — ensure customers receive prompt, accurate service and clear, trustworthy communication.
